OBDZ Privacy Policy

Last updated October 30, 2026

OBDZ collects no data. What it reads from your car and your iPhone stays on your iPhone, and leaves it only when you choose to share it. There are no accounts, analytics, ads, tracking or third-party code in the app.

What OBDZ reads, and where it stays

All of this is kept in the app's storage on your iPhone. OBDZ doesn't send it to us or to anyone else. The values it shows on CarPlay and in Live Activities come from the same data on your iPhone.

Maps

A drive log's route is drawn on Apple Maps, which loads the map for the area shown from Apple. The route itself isn't sent. Apple handles map requests under its own privacy policy.

When you share

Some screens let you share a drive log, a report or a set of definitions. What you share goes only where you send it, using the app or person you pick in the share sheet, and is then handled under their privacy practices.

Backups

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, iOS includes OBDZ's data in that backup. Apple handles iCloud backups under its own privacy policy.

Crash reports from Apple

If you turn on Share With App Developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may pass on crash reports and usage statistics that don't identify you. You can turn this off there at any time.

Deleting your data

You can delete drive logs and vehicles and reset trips in the app. Deleting OBDZ removes all of its data from your iPhone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
